Classic Bruschetta with Tomatoes & Parmesan
Crispy toasted bread, aromatic tomatoes, fresh basil, shaved Parmesan, and high-quality Maria Maria olive oil – that’s what classic Italian bruschetta tastes like.
Ingredients for 4 people
- 1 baguette or ciabatta
- 4–5 ripe tomatoes
- 1 clove of garlic
- fresh basil
- 4–5 tbsp olive oil
- Parmesan ( Parmigiano Reggiano)
- salt
- black pepper
- optional: a little balsamic vinegar
Preparation
1. Prepare the tomatoes
Dice the tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a bowl. Finely chop fresh basil and add it.
Season with salt and black pepper, then generously mix with olive oil. Let the mixture sit covered in the refrigerator for a few minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
2. Toast the bread
Slice the baguette or ciabatta and toast until golden brown in the oven, on the grill, or in a pan.
Then lightly rub the warm slices of bread with a halved garlic clove.
3. Top the bruschetta
Generously spread the tomato mixture onto the toasted bread slices. Then drizzle with a little olive oil and shave fresh Parmesan over it.
If desired, you can round off the bruschetta with a few drops of balsamic vinegar.
Tip for perfect bruschetta
The simpler the recipe, the more important the quality of the ingredients. Ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and a high-quality extra virgin olive oil make all the difference.
