The Villa Longo Primitivo Salento IGP from the 2015 vintage is a characterful red wine from Puglia, produced by Villa Longo di SGCL Vini S.r.l. in Francavilla Fontana (BR). The designation of origin IGP Salento (Indicazione Geografica Protetta) stands for protected geographical origin and typical southern Italian style.
The wine is made from 100% Primitivo and is aged for 10 months in oak barrels. This barrel aging gives it additional structure, spicy complexity, and a harmonious integration of tannins.
In the glass, it shows an intense carmine red ruby. On the nose, complex aromas of plum, black cherry, Amarena, cocoa, myrtle, and fine spice notes unfold. On the palate, the wine is powerful, soft, and full-bodied, with ripe fruit, well-integrated, present tannins, and a long finish. Despite its power, it remains balanced and structured.
Ideal with steaks, braised meat, pasta with rich sauces, salami, pork, and aged cheese.
