Product Description
The TEMA Primitivo di Manduria DOP Riserva is a characterful red wine from Manduria in Apulia, one of the most renowned regions for Primitivo. The designation DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) guarantees protected designation of origin and the highest quality standards.
The 2017 vintage is made from 100% Primitivo. The vines grow in the traditional Alberello system (bush training) on limestone and clay soils, some with old vines up to 70 years old. These low yields ensure concentrated, aromatically dense grapes.
The wine is aged through maturation in wooden barrels and additional refinement in oak barrels, creating structure, depth, and spicy complexity. The Riserva aging gives the wine additional harmony and aging potential.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose is dominated by ripe black cherries, plums, dried fruits, cocoa, and fine roasted aromas. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, powerful, and velvety, with ripe tannins, warm spice, and a long, intense finish. An expressive Primitivo with great aging potential.
Ideal with braised meat, game dishes, lamb, hearty pasta dishes, or aged hard cheese.
